On Tuesday, March 20, our Global Reading Challenge team, Mysterious Benaltabe Society, took first place in the city finals! Seattle Public Library coordinates this program, choosing 10 books for teams to read, read, and READ. Competing against eight other elementary schools from around Seattle, MBS expertly responded to 24 questions and prevailed in a very close competition. Like one of the titles in the Challenge this year, MBS knew the books Inside Out and Back Again! Congratulations to our distinguished team of 5th graders: Alexandra, Charlotte, Clara, Djuna, Justin, and Kian!

A wonderful aspect of the Global Reading Challenge is the bonding that happens among a team as they prepare for the intense competition. MBS met regularly in the library at recess throughout the weeks leading up to the competition. They also met at each other’s homes on weekends. They grew to understand one another deeply and learned where each other needed support.

We heartily congratulate Mysterious Benaltabe Society and all the other teams at Bryant who participated and encouraged the best from each other. Finally, huge thanks go out to our parent volunteers who helped throughout the six months it takes to run Global Reading Challenge. Our program is stronger with their contributions.
